Maison Gainsbourg
Revealing the life and work of a French icon
French singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg’s Parisian home has been immaculately preserved since his death in 1991. The home, which has been a site of pilgrimage for adoring fans for decades, will soon welcome the public, offering unique insight into the life and work of a beloved cultural icon.
Maison Gainsbourg partnered with AREA 17 to create a new, scalable digital platform for users to learn about the museum or purchase tickets.
Inspired by Mr. Gainsbourg’s singular aesthetic and revealing personal archives, we created a dynamic digital experience to connect visitors to an iconic cultural figure and his mysterious home.
Maison Gainsbourg is made with Twill, our open source CMS for Laravel.

As the entry point to a new cultural heritage site within Paris’s crowded museum landscape, the website lays out the full scope of the visitor experience, reaching those already planning a visit as well as those exploring the site out of curiosity.
More than just a practical resource, the site speaks to the cultural significance of the Maison Gainsbourg project. With photographs and visual references that tease the contents of the museum, the site entices visitors with an unmatched offering: a time-capsule that reveals the life and work of a mythologized cultural icon.
The website was created in collaboration with Yorgo&Co., who provided the Maison Gainsbourg team with overall art direction. Working to accommodate their design guidelines, which include a typewriter typeface and a red script font inspired by annotations pulled from the Maison Gainsbourg, we successfully articulated their vision and in turn, a record of Mr. Gainsbourg’s voice.
To help facilitate the much-anticipated opening of a limited-capacity museum and reduce overcrowding, the site includes a ticketing system integrated with an API from SecuTix. Our team worked together to configure a simple ticketing portal, which transitions seamlessly into SecuTix.
